Hi everyone, my wife Eril and I are beginning the assault on becoming GNs. I will introduce ourselves in the appropriate section. My question, as the title says, travelling with TV installed.

There are distinct instructions on ours that the TV MUST be removed from the swing out bracket when travelling.

Mine never comes down. Stayed on the swing arm right around Aus. The better half likes to watch movies as we travel.

We have a 16" TV on a swinging arm. It came from Avan that way and has travelled very well just like that. I can imagine that significantly larger TVs might not travel well on the swing arm.

We have 26" one mounted on a swing arm and we just put a strap around it and to a hook in the roof to support it while traveling..

I guess I'm just a belt and braces person but I just lift the TV off the bracket and put it in a carpet lined box that travels on the floor vertically between the queen bed and the wardrobe.
The Foxtel Box stays on the cabinette top under the TV bracket anchored down with four patches of Velcro ready to work at our next stop.
Works for us.

It has also been suggested just to slip the TV into the made up bed.

We take our off the mount and lie it on the bed with a pillow thrown on top, it travels fine like that. It's a 19 inch.

We left ours on once to check. All it did was droop a bit but I don't trust the way the bracket is attached so ours comes off and is placed at the head of our bed under a pillow.
Rather be safe than sorry and the thought of the bracket breaking doesn't really appeal.
Sparkster is right though, there is a label near the bracket. Might pay to consider it.

I have placed a large hook above and below the TV,screwed into the wall. I then secure the TV by using one of those stretch cords with a hook on each end. Hook into hook ...Holds TV firmly and secured.

Thats about the same as we have BG absolutely no weight on the bracket while traveling..

Hi all. We have done a flaming heap of K's with ours on the swing arm but secured with an elasticised, expandable, retractable, probably made in China, variable diameter, multi coloured, hook at either end apparatus. There, I did not mention the forbidden words. Cheers.

Hi aussie paul and all. That is the zackary same one as mine and mine is mounted through a vertical frame of the Mh with 2 x 10mm stainless bolts. Going nowhere. Cheers.

It really does feel attached very well. I guess the other question is will any vibration wreck the TV. I am reasonable disabled after a fiery aircraft Workplace accident 6 years ago so we will not be rough roading it much. I am lucky to be alive and even luckier that we feel we will be able to tour at our own pace!!!!

Hi Aussie Paul. We have been over some fairly rough tracks, rough enough to destroy a $400 speedo, but the tv still goes fine. Reckon there are a lot of variables such as Tv quality, van construction, suspension , etc. Good luck mate. Cheers

My 21 inch TV has been hanging on the wall for 9 years, It was on a Boat that lived on a swing mooring, with a full time resident,
I took it out simply because an American TV, CB, Etc, Dont work in OZ, Different wave lengths,
Nothing wrong with the TV bracket or the TV,
It did have an Ocy strap to hold it back against the wall when not in use,
If your driving down the road and your teeth are rattling, Take it off the wall, Before it snaps off the wall,
And 12 volt TV's are a lot cheaper than 240 volt ones, They also come with inbuilt DVD player, $179-00 for a 24 inch TV with Inbuilt player,
I need two of them, One for Boat, One for Coach,

Its amazing what gets shuvved under a pillow...
But my 2 bobs worth...I dont have a TV in the bus and never miss it either.
we do watch the odd movie on the computer tho.

urs is 19" although similar to yours, Aussie Paul, and we take it down for travelling. Doesn't take long and it sits in its box so its padded as well. ( We are a tad concerned about vibration.)

Question for all who take their TVs off the mount. Are they screwed to the mount or do they have a quick slip on/off attachment.
Mine did not come with any note about removing it for travelling and its a pain to remove it off its swing arm.

The only brackets I have used have a quick slide off bracket that is slightly tapered so the fixed bracket on the TV can slide up and off easily.
Our present bracket has a couple of thumb screws so that it can be tightened on for security, probably for travel if desired.
When it is lifted off the bracket for travel I place it in the box as shown and it slides between the bed and the wardrobe.
That way it is secure and if it is not needed it is out of the way.

It really does feel attached very well. I guess the other question is will any vibration wreck the TV. Sparkster thanks. Looks like I need them rubber stretchy things, of the name that can't be said, and a hook or two to hold it in place.
My TV swing arm has no nice thumb screw.
