We are planning a trip in August from Mullewa to Carnarvon . Has anyone towed a van along this road and what are the conditions like.

Hi Les,
Sorry I missed your post (thanks to Dunmowin for bring it to my attention) but if you are still reading the forum read the first post I made on this thread, it gives a number of links for the route you are thinking about, see;
Murchison Settlement (which is the HQ for Murchison Shire) has a roadhouse and caravan park and also cheap fuel (same price as Mullewa, and cheaper than Gascoyne Junction). There were a couple of caravans there when I was there but it is very important to check with the shires to see if the road is open, there are a couple of shallow river crossings to do so you need to make sure they are not in flood, also the condition of the road. If it is very dry they will be very dusty so expect some dust.
Contact Mullewa council before you leave Mullewa (nice council caravan park there) or the Mullewa Tourist Bureau, the little BP there has the best fuel prices although you book for the CP at the other servo in town. They can give you an update on the road/rivers etc and whether the road is open. Also give the Murchison Shire a ring and check how things are at their end as they have plant machines there that keep the road in good nick etc.

Thanks for the reply, I will check the road conditions before we leave. We intend to go to Wooleen Station gfor a couple of days. It was featured on Australian Story a few months ago and looked like great spot.

If you get the chance to go to Murchison Settlement you won't regret it, I can't recall it's location in regards to Wooleen.
There is a museum at Murchison and some supplies and fuel at the roadhouse there also.
Remember conditions can change quickly, I was told at Mullewa that the road was open only to find a road closed sign about half way along. I was sitting there wondering what to do when a cattle truck came thundering past the road closed sign. I contacted him by two way (Channel 40) and luckily he had his on. He told me the mail truck had been along it that morning and told him it was ok, so I continued in my 2WD. When I got to Murchison Station they were surprised I got through, although the sign didn't say it apparently it was ok for 4WD but not 2WD.
Before you head out to Wooleen Station give Murchison Road House a ring or Wooleen for the latest update. Watch the depth at river crossings (only a couple) if it has been raining up river.

If you check the links on the post I referred you to Les there are plenty of photo's there, but not of Wooleen.
One of the photo's at the Murchison Settlement Roadhouse shows Wooleen is only 33 kms from them, see photo.
Here are some of the shots of river crossings you will need to go over, including the Greenough River near Mullewa.
The one showing a bridge has the alternative of the bridge or the low crossing, it is only a narrow bridge so make sure your caravan can fit the width otherwise you will have to use the lower crossing...
PS: I was looking at the fees for Wooleen Station, $30 for an unpowered site with only an on site composting toilet seems a bit rich, Murchison Settlement Roadhouse CP is a much better deal and they give pensioner discount as well.

Check as often as you can Les, the rivers can rise suddenly and if say it has been raining kms away, may take a couple of hours to reach where you are crossing.
I would suggest check at Mullewa before leaving and also ringing Murchison Settlement Roadhouse or Council for latest info before departing. It has been flooding up that way currently further downstream as can be seen on a post in General.
My only regret from my trip up that way is not spending longer at the Murchison Settlement Roadhouse Caravan Park, I believe they can offer you some free accommodation for light work in the CP if you are interested.
