Just wondering what the road is like to the tip? Heading in the next couple of weeks.

Co-incidently I just read a report last night (actually dated 2012) that it's good bitumen right to Cooktown. No idea after that.

Came down from the top to Cairns last week, had plenty of rain north of Weipa, road is a little rough in places, but as in all situations, and more so up Cape York - drive to the prevailing conditons!!!! Must add we came down on a 4WD tour bus. Will be posting our journal pt 2 of our Cape journey most probably tomorrow when I finish writing it - have a look on the I Digress section. But best of all enjoy the experience.

I am led to believe the road is sealed to Weipa but not completely sure as I haven't travelled it for some time. But going on people who went up recently it's good to there not sure what condition the remainder of the road .is like

Yes Dreamcatcher it is sealed in places, but certainly not all the way to Weipa, and with the continuing rain and wind forecasts, it will be very muddy and slippery as well. Just take care travelling up that way as I mentioned previously.

And pay attention to advisory speed signs - some tight bends can take you by surprise
