If anybody is wondering where my post in the jokes section, "Who can you trust" has gone, well the 2%ers told the Moderators it was Racist and to take it down which they did. The interesting thing is, it wasn't Racist when I put it up, it suddenly became racist after 3 days and 20 plus comments.

C'mon John, It was racist, funny but racist - the fact that there were 20+ comments should be a fair indicator that the pot was vigorously stirred.

BUT! so is just about every joke ever told, If it isn't racist, it will be sexist, religious, blasphemous, lurid or just plain unfunny and in poor taste.

Those that came to this Country and suffered the barbs of Wog, Dago, Mick, Pommy, in most cases picked up the term and ended up wearing it as a badge of pride. To some it hurt deeply with harmful effects, sometimes tragic.

John, it for them, the ones that have been hurt and wounded that we must sometime just apologise to - as it is right and the Aussie thing to do.

Hey, I'm at the top of the heap when it comes to "wrong" jokes. And I'm just glad it was'n me this time.

I heard you the third time possum, Ha, Ha. The point I am trying to make is it only became racist when the 2%ers went crying to the Moderators, up till then it was no different to any of the other Irish, Kiwi, Aussie and Muslim joke. Where's the boundary line?.

I feel for you Young man Simmo there have always been jokes around using other denominations or cultures or people from various countries ,and I must state some are distasteful in my view ,but your joke was no different and you get shot down . Hope you have broad shoulders mate

But there are some who want to be joke censors they can't let it go. the joke will be off the main page in a day or two.

The Big worry is the unofficial censors won, the Administrators caved in.

I have had jokes pulled down on the site, that i found very funny, BUT because you, me ,others, use that word that must not be said ,thy get the boot ,now you can use Irish, Scottish, English, Jew, nothing is taken down

And also remember most people on here have as their best friends one that you cant say, not an Irish, Jew, Scot, Maybe not even an Aussie, mind you as a Scot would not like them as a friend

Ahh John, like me you've been sitting under the apple tree long enough to know that there is one religion(?) that it is verboten to ridicule, mainly because it shows their inherent weakness, and a lot of people are scared indeed some terrified to engage in frank and open discussions. Then there are others like Charlie Hebdo.

But enough - this is a Nomads Forum and the moderators are clever enough to ensure it remains a family friendly site.

It wasn't racist at all.. well maybe just slightly if you take into account the "diaper headed" part of the description possibly referring to someone of Arabic descent... It was just plain bigoted. It made a point of referring to a particular religion (not a race, which is why it isn't racist) in a derogatory way that inferred that all people of that religion were the same. Just like saying that all Catholics condone the acts of child molestation perpetrated by members of their church's hierarchy. You may not agree with any particular church or their followers, but they do have the right to practice their chosen faith, so long as it doesn't harm or vilify other Australians or anyone for that matter. And that right supercedes your perceived right to freedom of speech.

Personally, I think all religions do more to create hate and distrust in the world than any other influence, and cannot understand why people have such a need to have imaginary friends of whatever ilk.

John, I thinks SLUG's use of the term "soft co.k.s" is referring to anyone who does not share his uninformed, bigoted, xenophobic, paranoid world view. That's just a guess but I could be wrong.
