I know it's hilly but is the road width Ok for vans.
Drove on some older 9 ft roads into hills recently so want to make sure the Lyell is OK.
Any advice appreciated.

Have driven the road many times, twice in Motorhome. Have observed caravans and been behind them for a while such is the road. Few passing ops. Road is a truck route between Hobart and Queenstown. Can be challenging in winter due to snow and Ice.
Is it wide enough, yes. Is it windy and hilly yes, can you take a caravan on it Yes!

We have taken our van on the Lyell into Queenstown. Was ok then - a while ago now - so should be even better now. Is a steady downhill section - a few kms - but easy to handle in a lower gear.
We found going down into Tarraleah was much worse than into Queenstown. I believe there are some side roads that can be taken to avoid the downhill Tarraleah section.
