Not that I'm the sort of bloke to pay out on blondes, but my daughter, blonde, about 26 at the time, with a double degree in mathematics and chemical engineering, once asked her husband while laying in bed one Sunday morning.... "Mick, are chickens birds or poultry?"
Yeah she had it going for her both ways.. a blonde and an engineer...
now I'll duck.....
But on another note... One summer afternoon, Mick and I were sitting having a couple of beers, and discussing motor vehicles, engines etc., and the topic turned to "Octane"...
It went back and forth, with me saying Octane is just a rating, and Mick saying "no, Octane is stuff"... As it usually goes, this went on for a while till my daughter arrived home, and as she was someone who should know we put the question to her..
Well yes Octane has a chemical formula of C8H18 or CH3(CH2)6CH3, and blah blah blah blah... blah blah blah......
Yeah, but is it a rating, or stuff?
You're both right, octane rating of fuel is the a measure of it's ability to resist combustion under pressure compared to the compound Octane...
We just said OK, and drank some more beer... hic
