Meekathara to Wiluna? Any comments on road condition.

We are thinking of taking the Great Northern Highway from Broome heading south to cross the Bight on our way home to Sydney. We plan to be in the region in July.
The map shows 180 km of unsealed road between Meekathara and Wiluna which is on the Goldfields Highway.
We would greatly appreciate comments on road conditions and sensibility of taking this route.
We have a 2013 single axle semi-off-road Millard van and an 80 series turbo diesel Toyota.
Thanks
Margaret and Ron

In my past experience most roads in this area wont be any problem when dry.
Maybe dusty and a bit gravelley, but that's all.
Cheers,
Peter

We have, a couple of times, used the Neds Creek road, from Gt Northern Hway to Wiluna. Turn off about 250 kms south of Newman. Unsealed, but quite good the times we towed on it. Tradies going from Kalgoorlie up to the mines used to use it as their preferred route.

An alternative route may be Meekatharra to Sandstone. I have heard that road is OK. Ask at Meekatharra which is the better road.

Many thanks for your information. Taking it all onboard. I have had a look at the map and also Google maps and can't find Neds Ck Rd but I am assuming it is the road heading north of Wiluma. The map indicates the Goldfields Hwy turns west at Wiluma to Meekathara.
I really appreciate your comments.

Neds Creek Road goes off the Northern Highway 87kms south of Kumarina Roadhouse, 25kms south of the Gascoyne River crossing.
Maybe dusty and a bit gravelley, but that's all.

Peter
