The web site claims The BatteryCheck is a simple and easy to install device that sets a new standard in 4WD/Caravan or Marine battery management systems The only thing I see new in this one is it requires you to provide the readout device. It does just the same things the others do. If you install something like this you have instant readout of the parameters without having to search for your phone.
The thing it does do is it saves running cables. If you like it, go for it, it should give you the same results as the others.

I just have a voltmeter on dash. In Ute tray and in Galley where 12v cable comes into van frombattery in boot.

Those ABR-Sidwinder are not bad gear.
I have the dual battery monitor in Ute.
It keeps the 2 in rear nicely floating at 12.8.

i've just noticed that they advertise on this website/forum.
do you think this sort of technology will catch on in the RV industry, after all most people you talk to nowadays has wikicamps so theres never a smartfone or tablet too far away.

you know what you need on roof to keep at safe levels
and you (normally) have it already there.
These just more bits to stick in there and give more money to somebody else.
Me I got a genny too.
Doesn't matter how much I do or do not use. I'm covered.
Just another come on. Most of us have Digital volt, digital Ampmeters.
That's all you need.
Level of volts reading gives level of battery contents basically.
You tend to drop below 12.5v.
Stick another panel on there.
Or start my genny up.

Yes I fitted a BatteryCheck on the Aux battery in the tug a little while back. Quite handy not having to run extra wires into cabin or mount anything. Just pop the iPhone in its cradle. Reads battery voltage and current which is great for checking how much the solar panel is charging. And being Bluetooth you can check what's happening from several metres away - from inside caravan.
It's not perfect. Sometimes the phone just doesn't want to connect. One time I had to reboot this phone before it would connect. And sometimes it just takes time to connect. And every time you walk near the car it pops up a message asking to connect - can be annoying.
Overall - pretty neat system.

The technology behind the device is old hat. As I reported above, the only thing new is the way you read it, ie you have to supply your own display where all the others have the display in the measuring device (via a remote head with a few wires connected to the shunt.) The technology behind the recording device is well developed by others.
As far as the "theres never a smartfone or tablet too far away," that smart phone must have the correct application loaded into it. You really should have your own phone with the app already in it.
