Recently we took some friends to a new local Indian restaurant..'Muthu's Place',
and we noticed that the Indian waiter taking our order carried a spoon in his shirt top pocket....which seemed a little strange..
When Gunga Din brought us water and utensils, we observed that he also had a spoon in his top shirt pocket.
Then as I looked round.....I saw ALL the Indian Staff had spoons in their top shirt pockets...
When the Waiter came back to serve our curry soup I enquired, "Why the spoon?"...
"Weeeel Sahib" he explained, 'Muthu Place's' owner engaged 'One Step Ahead Consulting' to revamp all our work processes....
After several months of deep/meaningful analysis, they concluded that the humble spoon was the most frequently dropped utensil.
In fact it represented a 'drop' frequency of approx. 3 spoons per table per hour...so they concluded Sahib that if our Personnel
are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips back to the kitchen cutlery drawers and save 15 person hours per shift".....
As luck would have it, I then dropped my spoon and he deftly replaced it with his spare spoon....
He went on to explain that he would pick up another spare spoon on his next visit to Kitchen, instead of making an additional/ extra trip right now"...
I was of course most impressed at Indian ingenuity...
I then noticed there was small string hanging out of his Waiters Pants fly....and....upon looking round I noticed there was a small string out of ALL the male waiters fly's..
This was astonishing and begged another question from moi......"Could you please tell me why you and the others have that string hanging 'there'.....
"Oh certainly Sahib" he replied most proudly.."You are to be commended for noticing..not everyone is that observant"...
'One step Ahead Consulting' also analysed, we can save time in the Restroom by tying this string to the tip of our 'Private Part sir' and hence..
we can pull it out without the need to touch it and eliminate the time that would normally be spent washing our hands"...
and...it has reduced the Restroom time by 56.39%"..
I was even more impressed by this ..however I just had to ask quietly..."after you get your 'Private Part Sir' out, how do you put it back?"..
"Oh with my spare spoon Sahib,..the spare spoon"..........
