Greetings All
Does anyone have the Electroblock charging system set up properly in there A Van, ie: solar and charge booster wired in? Or are they all bypassed at the factory like mine.

I have an Avan Frances all connected up with 2 batteries and a fixed 80w solar panel on the roof through a battery controller and about to connect a lead for portable 120w solar, I am in Wollongong, I am not a sparky so don't know how it is all wired in.

Are your solar panels connected straight to the battery or do they go to the electrobloc battery controller?

The Electroblock system fitted to Avan is a pain in the butt according to our reliable local auto electrician. We had free standing solar wired in via an external Anderson plug when we originally bought our caravan.
We've had our caravan almost 5 years & haven't been near the Electroblock except to replace a blown blade fuse on one occasion.
The blown fuse worked the peizo ignition on our gas cooking jets & the 3 rear ceiling down lights? GOOD LUCK, hope you can read a German wiring diagram!

I have an English translation of the electrobloc user manual which is pretty easy to follow.
The electrobloc has a built-in dc-dc charger and solar regulator. Niether of these are connected up on my van.
Am thinking of hooking them up and see how it goes.
Has any body tryed this?

The DC to DC wiring is quite straightforward - just need to find the right connectors to add to the plug. I'll use a cheap timer delay to simulate the switched ignition feed rather than pull an extra wire.
I've seen conflicting info on the solar connection. It's not clear if the Electroblock 109-6 has an in-built solar regulator and the panel(s) can be directly connected or if an external regulator is still required. If the external unit is necessary, I think it's better to just connect it closer to the battery and bypass the Electroblock entirely.
I currently have 130W in 2 panels with regulator connected to the battery but would add a fixed panel if the Electroblock works as a regulator.
