Does anyone know of a navigation system whereby you can search for a destination by inserting latitude and longtitude instead of the address. Have a built in one in the town car but require something that attaches to the windscreen in the 4 wheel drive.

G'day JohnLiz, welcome to the forum. Lots of info already here if you use the search function.
I would think that most if not all GPS systems will accept either an address or Lat/Long co-ordinates you just have to find it in the menu.
If you give us the make and model of your vehicle I am sure someone in here will already know how to do what you seek.

We have a Hema 6, which is a few years old now, which you can enter co-ordinates in either iGo Street Mode OR 4WD mode. You could probably do this in the Hema 7 as well, but not sure about the new version "HEMA Explorer app"

All the GPS units I have owned can have Co-Ordinates entered in. Current ones are Garmin Nuvi, and a Hema HN6.
Try using "Youtube" to check out the various models and how to use them. Example below.
