Recently I had trouble lighting my diesel heater it gave off a lot of smoke without lighting.i sent the heater back to pinnacles and they returned it to me saying that there was nothing wrong with it So i re installed the heater and had the same problem,after further investigation and being totally frustrated i puled the muffler and the exhaust apart,and to my surprise I found it totally blocked with a wasp nest,cleaned it and it works fine this may help if anyone has the sme problem. This happens occasionally. I have not experienced that myself. I was advised to cover the ends of both pipes between uses. What happened in my case was the lighter weight fresh air intake hose was peppered by gravel the wheels through up It was badly damaged and constricting the air flow. I replaced it and encased the new one in clear plastic tubing to protect it.

Bugs making nest in exhaust pipes, may be more common, than we realise
Older brother could not start his genset, found his exhaust was blocked with a nest of some sort
The fix was to wrap a piece of steel fly-wire, around the end of the exhaust pipe
This still allows the genset to run, but stopped the bugs making their home there, so I assume that it will still allow a diesel heater to operate
If I am wrong then hopefully someone will come along and enlighten us all

I was advised to cover the inlet and exhaust pipe ends with stainless steel gauze. Sounds as though it was sound advise.
