You might remember a few moons back I asked about the above filter, well, I have purchased one today and is being fitted this Monday. I ended up not getting the 'Flashlube' one as it was too difficult getting anyone to order it in so went with the 'Fuel Manager' one. Does the same thing and is 30 micron as well.
I am not all that confident my back would allow me to do the work so for $80 I am getting the new 'fuel filter kit' and engine oil and oil filter changed as a in-between service oil change. Yep $80, not worth mucking around doing myself anyway at that price. Besides, I don't have the socket set needed. I am suppling all the bits and bobs.
See, I did read all the feedback and appreciate everyone that had an input, just looking around since original post. The parts cost is good insurance me thinks.
Thanks everyone.

And just remember to change "it's" filter too.
A lot forget.

I've got the same too Doug. Running it as a primary filter, I change it at the factory recommended filter change intervals.
This doubles the life of the factory filter.
Cheap insurance against dodgy diesel and great piece of mind. You have done the smart thing.
Safe travels,
Paul.

Yep, Insurance feels good. Well, will feel good when it's fitted.
A little mishap though. When I got home I opened up box and the mounting bracket and distructions were missing so took it back earlier and they say they were unawhere they came for different vehicles so checked up and yep, they do, so ordered right one and should be in later today (Friday).
So....If you decide to get one make sure it is ordered for your vehicle.

Correct filter arrived and I picked it up. Shock horror. What a difference in packageing. Heaps of hose and connectors plus a spare filter and easy to read distructions. No pilot licence needed either.
All set to fit now.

Good choice Dougwe. I just fitted one to our new MU-X and never needed any additional hose as the filter is located so the original hoses are used. I chose to use the secondary filter kit rather than the primary one. I wouldn't run a vehicle with a CRD diesel motor without one.

All done and dusted.
The mechanic turned up at 8.45am, 15 mins before arranged time and was finished the service and fitting the Pre-filter kit by 12.00pm.
A couple of small problems he came across fitting the filter but sorted that out and all seems to be running fine. The $80 ended up being $120 due to the extra time taken for the filter kit but I am still more than happy. Due to hoses etc that had to be removed to access things I am glad I didn't takle it.
If you have a RG Colorado Ute and want to go through this procedure or a service yourself, the oil filter is under the air filter area and the top hose needs to be removed to access it. There are two fuel filters under the front passenger seat and a little difficult to get to if working without a hoist. The top of the fuel tank had to be accessed and needed to be lowered down to do that but nothing really that hard for someone that knows what they are doing. A full tank didn't help things either so try and plan for not much fuel.

G`day Doug,
Doesn`t your Colorado have two fuel filters as standard equipment ? If so why the need for a third ?
Cheers,
Jontee

We have the same unit and have a plastic tube fitted to the bottom to drain it off every so often without fuel going everywhere.. They are fabulous filters

Hi jontee, to be up front and honest I got differing info re 1 or 2 filters so went with the pre filter to be sure, to be sure. It was confirmed while fitting the pre filter 2 is the answer. Maybe overkill now but I am used to that. There are many Colorados out there with a pre filter fitted so I am not alone.
I am unable to crawl around under cars these days so couldn't check myself.
How, all.
