I have a Dometic 3way fridge. Model RMD 8551. Working OK On all three modes, but on gas it has started to make a bang sound every time it re-ignites. Very annoying during sleeping hours. Hoping it's not a dangerous fault. Can anyone suggest what the cause may be and how to rectify. Thanks in advanc

YEP.
ONE of the main reasons why most more used to it, travellers.
Use the 12\240v Fridges.
Same costs to buy and install.
More efficient. and use less power (solar.)

Possibly the igniter is to far away from the flame.
Hope some one with a more technical back ground can tell you how to adjust or maybe you need to call into a friendly gas appliance man to fix.
I am sure its adjustment, not a large problem.

could be an obstruction near the flame point, diverting the gas away from the igniter.
Eventually it builds up to a point where it ignites with a bang.
A good clean might help

YEP.
And a caravan with NO freeflowing gas floating round the joint is good too thank you.
Faulty gas appliance. Turn off. and get somebody who knows what he's doing to check it out.
You ever seen a timber. OR Steel Yacht go bang....
With a gas leak.
Lots of timber chips. or a round steel ball.
No thank's.
I saw a concrete Bomb shelter roof blown off yrs ago on construction site.
Storage area for site gas bottles.
AND TEA ROOM.
1 Bottle valve leaked.
several blokes died. (Early '60's. UK)
I have gas under sufferance in van. NONE in home.

It may save you from spending bucket load of cash on a 12 volt frig and back up system. Just joking of course.

Our portable 3 way Finch fridge sometimes does the same. It's just a build up of gas before it ignites. Dometic & Finch are both made by Electrolux.

I just cleaned mine . Including ignition points . Don't actually know how I fixed it ? Assume dirty ignition ? Or bunged up gas jet ? Just cleaned with copper wire .

RADAR.
Just a "SUBTLER" way to say. Get it looked at if you not confident.
Gas does go off with a big bang if you get it wrong.
I've seen several circumstances of thank you.
Not nice. and usually concerns bodies.
Safety b4 economy in such things I reckon.
Same as 240v. Tradie.

I had the same problem, dometic three way fridge too.
It's just an adjustment. The ignition spark is slightly out of position and when it lights there is more gas than normal. Just goes pop and takes a few goes to light.
Have a tech look/adjust it, just a 15 minute job.

Gas has it's use when treated kindly & safely in our barbeques, caravans & cars.
When I was in the SES at Ceduna, I learnt a 100lb cylinder could take out quite a number of houses if it exploded. There was a parked railway unit with a large gas tank on it in the USA a number of decades ago & it caught fire & blew up - the small railway town went with it!
I notice Ron is going to get his fridge looked at - hope your sleeps then will be as you expect them, sound.
I'll come to Macca's defence: sure he often rubs people up the wrong way (including me), but often his advice is good & worth reading.
Occasionally he writes some dribble but hey, if everyone was like "Mr or Ms or Mrs Normal", what a boring place this world would be!
He obviously has a dry & warped sense of humour & shows it with his utilisation of a toilet seat as a folding picnic table - I bet it weighs less than a traditionally built table - just hope it doesn't have another less savoury use in his car, yacht or caravan!
