Interesting stuff on this site about issues for those of us who have the older iPhones (I have a 5S that is sitting on the bedroom dresser table sans Sim card for a year or so .. a cast off from my Daughter).
Seems like you will no longer have support from Apple or software updates & perhaps some of your fav apps may not work.
My smart phone, used only for speech & SMS is an Android device. I use a Windows Laptop for internet stuff.
I suppose this sort of thing happens to most devices over time, not only Apple.

Why the surprise all manufactures improve their technology and stop supporting earlier versions. The fact that Apple or Samsung or any other mobile phone manufacturer does it regularly (because people just have to have the latest shiniest one of anything ) makes pretty good business sense to me. Don't hide behind the fact that your running Windows Cupie they will change their operating systems just as often as Apple.

Although I must admit to owning an iPhone 6 which replaced an iPhone 4 that no longer produces any sound, but works well as a dual GPS trip meter.

I am very aware of the issues with the changing Windows operating systems resulting in peripherals that don't have win10 drivers readily available as well as many uncompatable programs (oops apps!!!).
