Maybe this has been covered before. I want to install a water pump to do away with the pump action tap in our Jayco Heritage, and have no idea how to go about it. Can someone give me a few pointers as to what type, size and tips on how to approach this please? TIA. Graham

Easy to do. Youtube will guide.
Coupla tips.
Try to use all ONE length runs. NO joiners.
Press couplings in till they "click".
Don't use the cheap Small pumps.
They have noo push on long runs.
OH. and have pump as close to supply tank as poss.
They ALL push. better than they suck.
We use a Singflo pump in our Avan - they are on Ebay for $21.50 delivered which is one seventh the cost of the Shurflo units being basically a copy - ours hasn't missed a beat in 7 years. They have push on fittings which if properly connected will not fail (same the Shurflo ones I think) - we replaced all the factory installed hard plastic John Guest fittings after we had 2 of them blow off....changed it completely by using new 1/2" air hose. This way the hose goes round sharp corners easily so you only need 2 lengths so less joins, does not vibrate like hard plastic when the pump is going, has no bad water taste, cheap and easily available. For a tap you can use a Estilo sink mixer tap with ceramic seals for $24.90 from Bunnings. Doing it this way you can end up having it cost under $100 for the lot and its pretty easy DIY.
Edit....you also need a fuse and switch to the pump as it's best not to leave any pump switched on when leaving the van unattended.

Thanks for all the help. I'll use the 1/2' air hose and the Singflo pump that you suggested Hako. Did you still use the JG fittings on your re plumbing job Hako? You also mentioned not leaving any pump on when leaving the van? Is this for any reason other than draining the battery as per fridge etc? Cheers

Got rid of the JG fitting from the tank to pump and pump to tap.....no joins to fail just 2 lengths of air hose. Re the tap, if you buy it go to their plumbing and irrigation sections and mix and match fitting to adapt the tap to hose.
I put a switch on the pump at a convenient position near the tap because the pump operates when it detects a drop in pressure....this may be as little as 20 drops of water dripping from the tap not fully closed or just the valves in the pump leaking slightly - at 2AM the pump starting can give you a fright!! It also is cheap insurance.

You have to be kidding with that link, Hako, I have one of those for drinking water, it is a pile of crap. 4.3 litres a minute wont fill the kettle, without getting wrist cramp, noisy as all get out and vibrates like an old 2 stroke mower.
Do yourself a favour and spend the $ on a decent pump Millsy, if you want rubbish there are a couple under my bench you can have for nothing

Horses for courses Bagmaker, I've never had a problem - do a Google on faults for both and see what shows up..
To silence the pump if you think it is too noisy you wrap it in foam, and yes they don't pump as fast as the one that costs 7 times as much but then, what's the hurry?
Shurflo pumps are also noisy - check the other forum. Using the flexible air hose also reduces vibrations whereas the rigid JG hose transmits vibrations.

Beware, some of those 'copy' pumps use weird threaded inlet and outlet pipes that will connect to nothing you will ever find here.

Long life (mine 14+ yrs this one)
As long as you don't run them dry too often.
My spare is a second hand 3 yr old for $100. in locker.
Mounted on rubber washers fairly quiet.

you will need to replace your actual tap on the sink as well, you will need to run some wiring to the battery.
A couple of trips to bunnings once you nut it out in your head but time well spent.
