We have just been away for a couple of months from Adelaide to Cooktown and back. Only had a few minor problems, one of them being an intermittent fault in my right had tail light on the van.
Silly me thought it would be simple to fix, just a connection problem or a screw through the wires or something, but on removing the 4 screws, I find that the whole LED light has been siliconed on as well!!
Now being siliconed to a thin aluminium cladding appears to be a problem for me in getting it off!
The only thing I think I can do is carefully break up the light and remove, then get a new matching pair.
It's a shame because the van is only 18 months old...
Has anyone got any better ideas??

There IS a Silicon spray on REMOVER.
I bought a can coupla yrs ago from Bunnings.
ASK.
And buy a bag of rags at same time.
Worked well BUT Messy as.

try heavy braid fishing line ,i use 80lb to cut through sikaflex,a loop in each end,couple a sticks and use it like a saw,cut through easy.cheers Ray

I used a filleting knife - but be aware of the cables (a real b1tch to replace) and remember to reseal the hole that cables come through otherwise you will have a water leak where cable penetrates.

Have you spoken to the manufacturer???? That may help some, with the correct way to get it out.
Single sided safety razor blades might get in between the two. A small set of wood working / hobby tools may be of some help with removal.

Can I add too. Try the same with Dental Floss as it is waxed ,and flattens as it draws tight. However you sill need to be able to get under it.

Yes, I contacted the Caravan maker, who in turn put me in touch with the electrical contactor, who told me that yes, it was indeed siliconed on fairly well!
The separate led modules are screwed on from behind the fitting?? To the frame that is siliconed on!
Anyway, they were good and agreed to send me out a new assembly free of charge
Now I will very carefully de-construct the light with some gentle force....

Hi, i worked in caravan industry,make a chiesel ended scraper from poly carbon probably 25mm wide by 90mm long,douse old silicon with turps and carefully scrape of residue,poly carbon will not scratch white aluminum,hope this is of some help.
