I'm looking for the above. A simple AM/FM car radio.
Do not need, or want, a radio that plays CDs, plus all the other unnecessary buttons, etc.
I travel a lot more than the average GN, and only listen, when available, to the ABC.
Regards.
Pipes.

CDs are old hat. There would not be many with CD players in them these days. However it is so cheap to include USB sockets I don't think you will get any without that feature either. You will just have to ignore the extra features.

Hi
I appreciate your dissatisfaction with the current 'all bells and whistles' radios. The multifunction ability of every button is a bloody nuisance for sure. Makes a simple selection so hard, just rubbish. I download a manual and print out the pages we need to be able to operate the silly functions on the fancy ones. Never needed that in the old days.
My experience of car radios is the Pioneers with their "super tuner" do get better long range reception that other brands on AM. Like your self we listen to the ABC when out of town as it is the only available. I have swapped a Pioneer in to all our vehicles. It is hard to get a simple one now but the wreckers are the place to go. The newer one that was in the current vehicle I have just removed because the silly pressbutton controls are too illogical and repaced it with an older style press button one with more intuative controls, eg seperate volume buttons and seperate tuning buttons. Could not find one with knobs !
Good luck jaahn

Have a look in your local Motor Wrecker they should be able to offer a pretty wide selection.

Hi Pipes, dug the radio out, then into Autobran where once about 1995 I enquired about the 16 pin power plug for a Sony. Unfortunately they do not have them in stock or in there catalogue anymore. It seems it would be very hard to obtain a lead now.
A pre digital radio from about 1985 or so.
Sony Full Logic, model XR-C300 , has a cassette deck but fairly easy to operate.
Dia. 180 wide x 50 thick x 150 front to back. h
Have now spoken with Pipes this radio is of not much use with out the power lead and he is now still looking for a simple radio.
Hey Pipes....I have the original stock radio out of a HQ Holden Monaro GTS....plus 2 ( I think ) Original Pioneer ones out of our 1984 Peugeot 505 (which you have seen ).
Afaik all that is wrong with any of them is something silly ...like blown bulbs in the tuning section or some such....really cant recall exactly what now. I was looking at them tuther day...and around shed generally....thinking "must get a skip and clean all this junk out ".
You should still have my contact details hey.....
Cheers Keith
