It would help me if I could get some advice from people who have actually had their Jayco ATM upgraded.
Jayco head office told me I need to get and engineer involved, so I went to see local Jayco dealer to see if they had an engineer they used for this purpose. Well what an arrogant s**t telling me that Jayco won't have anything to do with it.

Hi Paul.
Step back, take a deep breath and move on. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
All the best.

"Jayco head office told me I need to get and engineer involved"
Clear and precise. Just do what they suggested.
Your State rego authority will have a list of approved automotive engineers that can do this. Pick a convenient one that has a reasonable charge for this work.
Cheers,
Peter

G'day Aussie Paul.
I am also considering an ATM upgrade to my Jayco Silverline if it is possible. I am looking into it and will share information with you if you would like, would appreciate it if you could do the same.
My wife and I are also from Miners Rest, just up from you in MacArthur Park.
Cheers
Terry

Hi Paul, Jayco wont update ATM specs on second hand vans or even new vans that are on the showroom floor at dealers for sale. I bought a floor stock van and they would not update it but if I had the same van built under an order (3 to 4 months lead time) then it can be upgraded in the factory. The upgrade is really just re writing the plate. I found a caravan builder in Adelaide that is a recognised engineer and for 7 pineapples ($350.00) he upgraded my van. I considered it great value as he not only inspected and upgraded it he took my registration papers to the department, had them upgraded with the new info and then posted the new rego papers to me. Apart from taking the van to his workshop I had nothing else to do but be able to load another 250 kg into the van if I need to.
Note that the upgrade will depend on the caravans mechanical specifications being compliant.
My van had the axles brakes chassis tyres and hitch that was compliant with what is required for the upgrade.

Paul, jut be wary with a weight upgrade. Check to see what the wheels are rated at.
My Discovery is a single axled van - the wheels are rated at 1000kg. ATM is 1950Kg. I went through an exercise last year & found there were no other wheels for that van. The only way out for me is to change the hubs, etc as well.

Paul, if you have a good mechanic, ask him for a recommendation. I got two names from my gas mechanic.

Ok Warren. ATM is 2727 & Axle group rating is 2900kg so this is what I am hoping might be possible. Slowly getting there.

I got an engineer ring me back today. They would need the van for half a day to make sure all is ok, cost $935.
