my Diesel engine is becoming very sluggish slow to rev out when cold,but as the revs lift and the engine warms up it feels ok,Injector cleaner is my first thought any ideas would be appreciated.I have had a trouble free run with this2.5 ltr challenger engine for the last seven years,all filters and oil changers brake linings have been done by myself over the years in every car I have owned ...
Give em a try with your question, but i am thinking EGR blockage, all part of the pollution stuff.
Any smoke coming out, yes i would try injector cleaner, to start with.
Good luck i will follow this post just to see the outcome. I am not a mechanic and there are far wiser on here.

Hi Ron.....there no doubt will be a hundred different recipes and remedies given to cure your cars ills,but I have
had great success with using Castrol Activ 2 stroke engine oil in my diesel tank,at a ratio of 3ml/litre of diesel.
Some people run up to 5ml/litre,but my car works fine at 3.
Works majic,cleaner smoother running,more power,and arguably better mileage. There may well be some fatalists
warning that such a potion will cause an early death,or such,but it works for me! At $30 (guess) for a bottle,it
perhaps would be worth giving it a go before spending big dollars?

Iâve hooked up Water / Meth kit . 6.5 turbo diesel . Starts and runs much much cleaner. Keep
Fuel filters well serviced . Even added an extra fuel filter . Every 3rd full tank refill ( 300 litres )! Add 1 litre of two stroke oil . Usually before interstate or long runs ?? Ron d first question has to be how many miles has it done, personally doubt that its the injectors. if your up around 100,000 i would suggest egr blockage almost certain . Jury is still out on using 2 stoke oil but it sure wont fix your injectors if there's a problem, with modern injectors the commercial injector cleaners won't help much either .

Thanks for all your replies I will give the two stroke oil a go ,sounds like it cant hurt and a lot of good people here use it,as far as the egr goes about 15 ,000 ks ago I had a complete manifold clean, the car has only 120 ,000 ks on the the clock,and has been a perfect runner until the other day when. I decided to give it a run after sitting in the garage for three mths.,I should have bought an isitzu but they werent around back then all jokes aside I hope it comes good these days basic services Are my limit...no smoke Ge...

There are plenty of pictures on the internet of inlet manifolds clogged up from soot. High mileage and unblocked EGR, candidate for clogged manifold.
Jury might be out on the use of 2 stroke oil but, watching the Australian F1 GP on the weekend, one of the rule changes is the banning of mixing oil in the fuel.
Apparently this was giving them a performance boost.

No not on petrol turbo engines . Oil in chamber promotes detonation . I think the oil was used to assist fuel economy . Plus F1 is a little like top fuelers . What they do has sfa to do on road cars . More so diesels . Your model possibly has a variable rate turbine housing ? This maybe the problem ? Fuel filters all serviced ?

Your a funny man blaze but you know what you can do with your oil.. The engine light has come on now and the car feels worse,next week sometime I will book it into the dealership this will need more than a basic service or injector addatives ,will eventually let others on here hnow what the problem was ,after they have emptied my bank account ...

That is the only way to sort problems like this, there is no additive made that will help IMHO {that is why I made the snake oil comment, that's what its called in the trade), hope they don't burn your pockets to much

Years ago I used to drive a tipper powered with a GM 671.We found that a gallon of Kero in the full tank of diesel gave it a big boost and kept components fairly clean. Great engines those old GM's and did it cackle.Nothing like a 671 for a good sound out the exhaust.

Hi Graeme....I guess that you also had a bit of experience with TS3 engines in Commers from early 60s? You could hear them 2 miles away,usually single drive towing 2 axle dog trailers....slowly,but big gear in their day!! Memories..... Cheers.

Plenty of younger people doing the farming thing in my neck of the woods, most of them 3 and more generations. Very vibrant agg industry. they do dairy to cropping in soil thatgrows babies

Possibly more waste gate issue ? Although it sounds like youâve lost a few horses? Main part is to get looked into ASAP . A few $100 part could cost $1000âs .. More so high tech single rail motors ..
