Hi guys need some help please.I have 300watts of solar panels on my van roof feeding 2x120 amp agm batteries with a 30amp pwm controller that gets very hot to touch is this ok or should I purchase one with higher amps ???If I do need a new one what is a good brand?? Also is it ok to plug a seperate folding 200watt panel to the batteries as well when the roof panels are still charging ?????? Any help greatfully appreciated

Welcome to the gang dickymate, enjoy here and out in the playground.
I agree that using the appropriate areas of the foruim is important butb it is here now and in 'techies' so no need to double up really.

You will not see any more than about 17 amps from 300 watts of solar. Your 30 amp controller can easily handle that.
I have 480 watts of solar feeding two 120 amp batteries and a 30 amp prostar controller. I have yet to see more than about 23 amps. Would need a perfect day to get maybe 28 amps.
An electrical guru may be able to say why your controller is hot.
