Weight will be the critical factor.
The GVM is only 3200kg (and that can only be achieved with almost perfect load distribution without overloading an axle) and no where do they tell us what the empty weight is.
The chances of it having a satisfactory load capacity is minimal I reckon.

The manufacturer's of these smaller motorhomes and there aren't many, usually have a GVM upgrade done on the chassis before they build the motorhome in order to give you adequate payload.
Having said that I would be asking that question if I were you before signing up.

judging by the response there are no sunliner ranger owners around ? uhmmmmmm oh and yes gvm on the habitat has been upgraded to 3500 because of extra weight more water etc etc ........... more to carry than the standard ranger motorhome . and what surprised me 5 dealerships in Australia with thousands of dollars difference in price !!!!!

I thought you were enquiring about the Ranger, not the Habitat (which has a GVM of 7T).

I have the specs from dealer regards gvm ... but I'm not going to pretend I understand them !!! ha 3500 gvm sounds good on paper doesn't it ! and at the end of the day couldn't be registered if it wasn't all legit ! but I'm always a bit wary about these things .
No one has complained about the ranger sunliner ... was hoping to find a few ?

Finally bought a sunliner ranger ha3 ... very happy vehicle has all the bells and whistles no need for gas bottles everything runs on diesel ... WAS a demo 300km on clock 2017 model deal made at rv show in Melbourne . carries 150 litres of water hence gvm up grade ... very compact unit with all the comforts .. see u on the road guys smile !
ceramic cooktop ... and lead crystal battery .. was light years ahead of the Sherwood sun camper not as boxy looking also .

Hi, Also looking at a Sunliner Ranger. How do you find the vehicle? I would order the suspension upgrade with mine. I dont think I need the fancy Hab3 mod. I am just selling a 2016 Hilux and have had no problems. Sunliner only do the Ford Ranger conversion, so will have to go with the Ford. I think I will have to make a step, storage bin to access the front bed, dont want a step ladder. Sick of ladders after a slideon, Tony. PS, would like to see a vehicle up here in Qld., but no luck as yet.

very happy with vehicle .. sunliner melb sell them... perfect for 2pe0ple ... Sherwood campers build similar model on hilux ... but doesn't look as good I think ..too boxey

Hey. i'm a lone pensioner & thinking about the sherwood HA3 4x4 style motorhome over a winnie or caravan.
Muchly appreciate some short stories of these style of campers. Now you got one/had one give me some advice or warnings. i'm a tad hesitant as they are few & far between. Or is it only because single travellers are rare vs mr & mrs teams who would probably find it cramped??

Alf very happy with this type of motorhome .. for 2 people its perfect and being a 4wd gives you the option to go bush .. Originally I was going to buy a Sherwood but seeing the ranger ha3 and Sherwood side by side the decision was made easy ! everything in the ha3 runs on diesel no gas bottles needed .
The ha3 top of the range but there are the cheaper versions 2wd etc . make sure you get the club lounge set up in the rear . HA3 expensive at $150,000 new ! hence you dont see many.
This unit although small certainly has it all and no real need to buy the bigger rigs .
So far very happy with it. so go for it alf !

I'll need a 4x4 not that I have any 'gun barrel hwy' ambitions but I'd be happier knowing I can turn off onto that side track without fear.
Can you roll off some extras to get & some not needed on the HA3 4x4? Is the solar setup for electricity enuff or should I upgrade?

Solar 150 watt on roof has been ideal for power inside and we have no probs . fully self contained and there are some things on the habitat not realy needed like spotlights on roof etc .. alloy wheels .. the starting price for a sunliner would be around $130000 without leather interior etc ..
and gas in the basic model.
At the end of the day you can add whatever you want but the base model does the job . go to the sunliner website for all the specs .
3) How about that ladder up to the bed? Looks daunting to me.

Very happy with vehicle perfect for 1..2 people .. you mentioned ladder for bed above cab ...you can sleep down the bottom after removing table no issues .
The Sherwood doesn't have a ladder up to the bed and if I were u stick with the Ranger ...
Went up to Gladstone and all around Victoria so far with only 15000km on clock. off to Tassie at xmas .
Next year up to Katherine and across to Broome .. Perth back across the Nullabor .
Bottom line is why spend big bucks on a larger motorhome when you have all the comforts in a smaller package which makes it easier to park etc etc . And bonus of having the capability of going off road down that sandy track .. obviously not to be used as a normal bush basher because of the height etc it wasn't made for that .
Met all our expectations so far and happy that we have room at home for storage under 6m long .
Diesel cooker and heater great ...

We have just bought one of these motorhomes and my husband has put a cupboard cum step to the bed. We use the top opening cupboard for our dirty clothes and shoes and then also use it to step up to the bed. We find it much easier to use than the ladder for coming down from the bed. Hope this may be of help.

Ranger has met all that was asked of it .. very comfortable and great use of space .. met plenty of people with these large motorhomes that are very surprised to see that this small little package has it all ! certainly recommend it ideal for a couple and singles ... added foldable shelves for extra bench space when required .. under 5.8 metres long managed to keep at home .
