hi all are wd bars counted in tow ball weight and do i put them on the draw bar when i am checking tbw

Hi Gordon.....Although I am not sure,I would say that they are part of the cars weight,as the WDH head is mounted to the cars towbar (obviously!) and the bars connect to that.The tensioning of a WDH does not change TBM.(towball weight)

Gordon, I would say it is a bit of both. The WDH head and the bars would be part of the cars weight and the chains and the chain brackets/tensioners, which are mounted on the caravan drawbar, part of the towball weight. I would check the towball weight in that configeration but with the car and WDH not coupled to the caravan.

What does it matter either way? The weight of the bars is only a very small proportion of the ball weight. They also weigh much less than the readout steps of a weighbridge readout and many members rely upon calculations from weighbridges to ascertain the ball weight of their vans.
