I am having trouble with a Dometic RM4805 fridge that is freezing everything at its highest temp setting, if the Thermostat was buggered surely the fridge would not get cold, or can they fail and jam on ???
The Manual is useless.
Cheers

Hi Perry
More details needed!
Does it freeze on all sources, gas ,12V , 240V ,????
Thermostats can fail either way but more commonly open

The Fridge freezers on all power sources I think , It is running on Gas now so I will check in the morning if its freezing but certainly does on 240 v and 12 v
If its the Thermostat would the power source make a difference.
Cheers

I have been and checked the fridge , its been running on Gas for about 24 hours and its fine so I have turned it back to 240 volt and I will see if it freezes again.
Cheers

Perry, it is only useless if you are not familiar with fridges. The manual I downloaded from the net has wiring diagrams for each type of fridge it covers. The last one is for the RM4605/RM4805. If you have a look at that you will see right at the top of the diagram a little rectangle labeled U. That is the thermistor that senses the cabinet. If it is not the faulty bit then the control board will be the culprit. You need a multimeter and know how to use that and the way thermistors work to test if it is OK or not. The replacement for the thermistor.

Perry we have a Dometic 3 way, the circuit drawing for it shows that the thermostat is only in circuit in the 240v position. That is how ours works as it will freeze in the DC and gas positions irrespective of where the thermostat is set. Just have to manage it.

Different model fridge., but yours should work on gas, unless it is a very old model, if you give model number we can confirm

Unfortunately we have a Dometic 3 way fridge too. It's sh*t itself on gas twice & 240v twice.
We've spent as much as a new unit getting it fixed four times.
