Make sure you check the towing capacity of the actual model you will buy. A few different weights depending on various configurations.

G'day Smacca,
Welcome to the forum. You'll find a great deal of information in this group - we're all different & have had many experiences (bad & good) through life, work & pleasure. There is a wealth of info in the memory banks.
If you have a look in the "Search" tab (a very useful tool) you'll find what you're looking for.
I'm also looking at the Izuzu for a replacement vehicle some time in the future. The MUX has a towing capacity of 3000kg, the D-Max has 3,500kg (why, I'm not certain).
As Yuglamron says check your weights carefully - don't rely on a salesman who is keen for a sale. Remember the Tare weight is as it COMES INTO the dealer.
The GVM includes everything as it GOES FROM the dealer - options like a bull bar, towbar, lights, ball mass (if you're towing), as well as passengers & the stuff you carry & must not exceed what is on the compliance plate under the bonnet. That is what the "scallies" (& insurance company) are interested in if something not so nice happens.
Do you already have a caravan/camper?

I have just recent bought a new Mux the fat torque band compared to my old car is amazing ,we have just arrived home ,and believe me its had a work out,the car seems to hold the selected gear to perfection going up steep inclines no hunting up and down just solid constant power, look at the vans being towed by dmax or Mux theres a reason for its called grunt, for its capacity you wont find a better car in my opinion, maybe similar vehicles I have not driven them all but as sure as night follows day this car ticks all my boxes..

Use the SEARCH facility on this forum to check out previous threads & comments about your chosen vehicle.

Hi again Smacca,
I found in a magazine last night why some say the D-Max is the better yow vehicle. It's because of the rear leaf suspension but one thing against it is the amount of overhang past the rear axle. Most magazines seem to feature both cars as tow vehicles & sing about the attributes.
I guess you have to weigh up each vehicle as to how they fit your needs.

I think you will find that the Isuzu is a very reliable vehicle. Although I currently drive a Ranger, I would have no hesitation in recommending the Isuzu.
We ran their light trucks at work with the same 3 litre diesel engine that is used in their 4wds and always had excellent service out of them with very little trouble, and that was a sizeable fleet.
Lots of them towing vans too. Very popular.
