(someone let me know it I am asking to many questions) As I have mentioned I am a new caravan owner.
I tried the hot water system in the new van for the first time yesterday, the external cover/vent gets extremely hot, you wouldn't think about touching it and the heat that hits the side of the van above the vent is also extreme. Is this normal?
Cheers

I know it may sound silly but did you check that the hot water system is full of water

Mine gets quite hot too. I presume you have taken the cover off the vent.

Thanks Guys, it is a swift brand. And no that was not a silly question that would be easy to do, I ran the hot water tap with the pump on for several minutes to make sure the tank was full.
cheers

I don't have a cover that I am aware of, when you say quite hot do you mean to hot to even think about touching? mine is that hot if you touched it we are talking blisters.
I know it is hard to compare looking forward to your reply, thanks for your help.
cheers

Yes, the door /cover will get quite hot.
They are far from 100% efficient, & the waste heat has to pass through the vents in the door, & the door itself is exposed to that heat.

Check via the hot water system release valve is full, there has to be one attach to the hot water system close by.
Our caravan has a Tumura system, the vale is outside directly under the hot water tank, we check and bleed the air out occasionally to be sure.

We have a swift hot water system and ours has two vents ,and it just gets a little warm on one of them nothing at all to worry about ,its a great system that a lot of caravan manufacturers are now fitting ,stainless steel tank,we have had ours now for three years .

The cover on our HWS has a sign on it: "WARNING - HOT WHEN IN USE." I have seen the same sign on other vans.
So, obviously, the cover is meant to get hot!
