Is it a Maxxair fan with the built in hood as part of the lid that lifts up or a Fantastic Fan with a Maxx Air shroud over the top? The Fantastic fan did has problems and the factory are happy to send out all the bits to upgrade it to the newer design complete with instructions, but the Maxxair ventfan with the built in shroud I don't have any service back up information I'm afraid, but first thing is to contact the manufacturer. The Fantastic vent fan if guaranteed for life so I'd expect MaxxAir would do the same.

Thanks Terry, They have the builtin hood. Itried them again today & one worked.(first time in months}. I took the cover off the 2nd. one & found a crack in the fitting associated with the lift mechamism, so hopefully that is all it is & the otherone keeps working. I appreciate your reply & your interestAusKiwi. Kind regards Dave.

We have fan . Fitted under hood or vent above bed . At night we pull air from
Outside . Hot days we reverse it to push hot air out the top . Seems to keep midges away also .
