Pedders did new suspension and front brakes 2 months ago, advised that rear brakes would be good for another 20k+.
Now the gremlims have arrived.

I would take the wheel off and look at the brakes. It is quite possible a small stone has jumped in there and is trapped against the disc. If so just get it out with a piece of wire or similar. Then check the pad thickness while you are there. Good luck.

If Pedders have said that the rear brakes were good for another 20K+, I think that we can accept their word
I have had problems of (old type) Toyota 4x4 getting stones in the front disc brakes, when working in open pit mines
It did sound like the pads had worn away
It was an intermittent sound, which sometimes came, without using the brakes

Could be down on your brake pads ? Or a stone in there ? Some pads have a wear clip that makes a noise before going metal on metal to save doing damage to rotors if you keep

It sounds like the rear pads are down to the inbuilt metal alarm..hence the scraping noise. It sounds like the rears have not been replaced because many service places remove the metallic alarm shims when they replace pads. I suggest you replace the rear pads soon as the disc will will eventually develop a deep groove . The brakes would still be safe for moderate driving but would be down to about 3mm.

Mechanic here today, inside pad had dropped causing cylinder to grind against rotor. New rotors and pads both sides, good as new.

Sorry to hear that. But I think it sounds to me like the Pedders guy did not check all the 4 pads properly and the worst one just wore too thin to stay there and dropped out.
There is a lesson here !! Ya gotta look properly at all of them and the inside ones too

I think you are right on. All that was left of the rear pad was a paper thin piece of metal. Would have expected better from Pedders.

I think you are right on. All that was left of the rear pad was a paper thin piece of metal. Would have expected better from Pedders.
