Hi all, I recently purchased an Avan, I want to replace the foam seals. I bought a kit from Avan and have a question.
There is a rubber seal that goes on the bottom half of the roof that seals on the bottom of the top roof when in position. Is there a foam seal that also goes on the top of the top roof. The kit from Avan does not show one there but my Avan seems to have one.

Our Avan had that foam seal as well - I purchased stickon foam tape from Bunnings which did the trick. They have in different sizes and all Avans are not built the same as some have bigger gaps than others. Check that the long hinge at the bottom rear of the A on drivers side has not cracked as that affects sealing.
Good Luck.

Try and replace the original foam ( it's Open Cell) sealing strips with "Closed Cell" strips. All available from suppliers like Clarke Rubber. the closed cell stuff last longer and does not soak water like the sponge stuff.
With the roof and walls "up" measure the gap thickness you need for the Front Roof section and Rear Roof section, as they are different. Get a size for each section that just gives a sealing "Pinch" fit.
You cal also get two strips of different thicknesses (stick them together) to form up a non standard size if you find you cant get a correct thickness "off the shelf"
The wide strip that seals the roof in the closed position is also available from Clarkes.
"Mark the ends" of the old seals before you remove them, as it's easy to forget the layout positioning of the strips. Photograph them maybe.

Most of us Avan Club members do our own.
Thanks for the advice. Very helpful.
