Hi All, heading out west tomorrow. We will have one night at the Nindigully Pub and will want a bit of water in our tanks. Don't want to have to tow with full tanks all the way from Brisbane, but is it kosher to fill up at St George from a servo? We are worried about taking water from a drought-affected area, and will fill in Toowoomba if we have to.....or Goondi?
Suggestions/protocols greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

If your rig is too weak to climb the range at Toowoomba then I suggest you water up there when you get to the top. Filling tanks makes very little difference in your fuel consumption. The van will travel better with the water lowering the centre of gravity. I never leave home unless the tanks are full.

I just ask the console operator at the servo (before I fuel up)
if I fill up with fuel is it ok to fill my water tanks
I have only been refused once in the gold fields in Vic during a massive drought. I fuelled up anyway.

We have a BT50, so no problem with the towing capacity, but it's a big beast - New Age Manta 22. Will fill up in Toowoomba or at home. Thanks all.
Cheers.
