Hi,
An Ebay search for the part no. brings up a couple - price might be a shock - One from Italy is listed as new genuine @ $101.48 + GST & includes freight - one from Lithuania is listed as new genuine @ $64.36 + GST including freight.
Have you tried a VW workshop or Repco etc?

Hi again,
Can you remove the switch or take the vehicle to a local auto electrican for repair or they should be able to offer an alternative solution? Also a heated rear window will have considerable current draw & will probably have at least one 30 -40A fuse - have you checked & replaced the main fuse just in case & also searched if there is another fuse or relay as well ?

Hi Pauline, I understand ( rightly/wrongly) that Mercedes Benz Sprinters and VW vehicles have some similar parts so a call to Sprinter Spare Parts Organisations may be helpful. Sprinter owners with advice from the Sprinter forum buy parts in Oz and from Overseas, generally OS is at a cheaper rate, checking the VW LT forum for OS Parts suppliers may give you an OS source for the current part and in the future.
I guess you have tried the various euro parts importers ? Grey parts importers used to able to source everything once.

Hi sassycat
What is wrong with this "one from Lithuania is listed as new genuine @ $64.36 + GST including freight." If you can find the listing.
Just order it from ebay. I get lots of stuff from over there. That is a good price and you might get faster freight if you pay more. I would probably just get an aftermarket switch from a local place. Nothing special about a demister switch.

Also try Kombi Club forum and try a Google search for VW forums and see what you find there. Lots of information and connection to get VW parts throughout the world, forget the local dealerships, the real parts stocks are not in their hands. You can still buy enough parts to build a split window Kombi, so there is no such thing as a VW too old to get parts for
