Hi everyone.
I own a 1988 Nissan civilian with 250k on it and 10 speed box.
Im looking at putting a turbo kit on and I know this place does kits for roughly 5k

Just wondering if anyone else done this upgrade and if they went with that company or someone else.
There are quite a few turbos out there that say they will fit a w40 from 1995 onwards but mine is the Ed33 engine.
Any help or recommendations would be great. Thanks in advance.

I would not fit a turbo to a natural asperated engine as an after thought, especially one with those km on it. I don't believe you could safely increase the boost enough to warrant the expense. Maybe have a look at adding lpg to the mix which will give a cleaner more complete burn.

If your engine is in reasonable condition . Up to 7lb is fine . Just follow EXACTLY what the company says to do . Keep an eye on temperatures . Brother had 3.3 Nissan . Had 700,000ks when he sold it . Most the time the speedo was off due to diesel road tax in NZ . So way over Million Ks . Jap import too .,

My engine is in good condition and 250k is nothing for these engines. 250k is actually low. I agree that adding a turbo at 7lb should be OK.
My question is....is there a turbo that will just bolt on and then I can do the exhaust ect or if im feeling lazy I can purchase the turbo and get a shop to fit it. Will it require a proper tune?
I've done my fair share of mechanical work on cars and know a fair bit. There are turbos listed out there for 1995 onwards w40 but I cannot find anything for the earlier Ed33 engines.

I did own a Civilian with an ED33 motor. As It suffered a failure I looked at getting a turbo motor from a Nissan Cabstar of that era and fitting that. I did buy a truck but in the end decided to move on and sold the lot instead of doing the work . Also previously I had a new Cabstar with the nonturbo ED33 when I worked OS and it was a good worker but speeds were slow there.
The Japanese market continued to use the ED33 motor and ED35 and larger, all with turbo on some models eg; ED33T, ED35T etc. These were used in Civilians and light trucks they called Atlas. Isuzu also used rebadged Civilian mini buses. My point being you might get some imported motors with turbos but they are getting a way back now. Even the truck wreckers in Australia might have some available.
I think that you need to appreciate that fitting the turbo is only half of the job. The injection pump needs to be modified and the fuel increased to give the increase in power. Just blowing in more air does not do much it is the extra fuel that does.

Heres a TD07 on Fuso Pusher , engine in back . New owner is now running 15lb . Its ok for him
. Hes a machinist . Fixes his own engine . Ive fitted a few turbos to lazy diesel motors . The tune on a diesel is almost the opposite to petrol engines . In most cases the timing is advanced to give extra time to burn the extra fuel . With 7 or 8lb I find it just cleans up the smoke . To get better fuel burn . I found you can usually drive one gear higher or lower RPM to achieve the SAME torque . These 3.3 engines seem to like revving to get torque . More like a petrol engine.. BTW Ive fitted sub $500 turbos, 6 years latter they are still running . Just pre oil them . In most cases you just fav up flange to adapt turbo to manifold . T off oil pressure sender . Dont skimp on oil return size . -10 to -12 weld on steel AN fittings . A TD04 turbo would possibly be sized right ., Don't go too big on exhaust, turbine .,

Is this a decent power upgrade? would you notice the difference? they claim an extra 33% power and reduced fuel economy but we all know how companies lie.

I purchased a mppt tracer and I'm having issues getting it working for my 24v system.
This mppt

My solar panels connected together are putting out 41v.
The mppt says max battery voltage 36v.
The mppt keeps going into error status.
Is this just happening because the mppt cannot handle the 41v that the solar it putting out or can it be adjusted through the mppt controller?
Do I need a different mppt tracer or do I need to reduce the solar panels volts down below 36v.
If so how do I do that.
At this point in time I don't have anything Hooke up to the tracers 3rd input (load) what you plug in a light ect to disperse energy.
I hope that's enough info.
Please help.
