Planning to visit WA next year if possible. Would like to know what the road into Middle Lagoon is like please. I realise road conditions vary and change due to many factors but is the road a formed road or graded/dozed track, sandy or rocky, is it possible to tow a 20 foot van in, not off road but prepared to take it slow if not going to be pinstriped by vegetation.
As I understand the area, there are limited camping options due to it being Indigenous Land and communities. I think at present, camping is only allowed at these few communities.
One point raised in .the article, and needs to be taken on board, is it appears they will not be allowing freedom camping along the route or at the communities. People will need to consider this and plan their trips along the peninsula, and not just expect to be able to go, and drop anchor anywhere if camps are full.
( I am making no comment on whether they should or shouldnt provide free camping, only that it appears they wont. I do support whatever decision they, and other local bodies around Australia make re this subject.)

Yes, TheHeaths, I don't know anything about what facilities/camping might be available up there, I was only posting in relation to the road and then, only what I'd seen in the press because I remembered the article.
Even if the indigenous owners/guardians are providing some camping availability, as you say, the OP would need to do some further research before heading off, not only about whether they'd be able to stop anywhere to overnight, but also where they can even go up there. Although we can now travel, I think there are still restrictions about going into remote indigenous areas, some are still off-limits I think. I don't know any detail, I only looked at it when I went to Exmouth and the "off-limits" places were north of that, but you'd need to find out.

We went to Cape Leveque in 1995. The road north of Beagle Bay was sealed maybe a decade ago.
Sealing the rest will change it forever.
