Hi folks, I have noted that when someone types a URL into a message it does not present itself as a clickable link. To open the link you need to highlight it, copy it and paste it into the address line. Links inserted properly using the link tool still work OK for me. The problem only occurs on this forum, not on any of the other forums I frequent.
Is anyone else having this problem. This applies in both Firefox and Opera.
Another problem I am having is Grammarly does not work with this forum.

Old posts are popping up too. I have checked my settings and no change.

I have noticed old threads coming to the top of the list. This can be good or bad. On smaller forums on narrower topics resurrection of old topics is not so bad. Probably here it is not so good.
On other forums you write a htt.... & you get a link automatically.
On my android phone when looking at a post I can just press the plain htt... text & it becomes a link which I can open straight away or create a new tab. So I don't need an actual link. So not issues there.
I find the advance search doesn't work at all well.
If I make a spelling error & then see a suggested word, that word gets added to the end of my poorly spelt word.
Uploading photos works well. I do try to stick to 640 pixel or so wide images as that is all is needed in most situations.
I hope the above is taken as constructive comments. Overall if the website continues to function the same, so be it.

Frank, there are four tools on the middle line that are greyed out until you highlight some text. When the text is highlighted the tools operate on that text. To insert a link, first type or copy a heading for the link. The link tool displays for you, click on that tool and a box comes up to insert the URL into the appropriate space. When you click the Insert tab the link is generated. To make the link stand out better, whilst the heading is highlighted, I click on the underline, italics and bold symbols before clicking on the link tool.

If you open the page of the link that you wish to share and copy the link from the title bar at the top and then paste it into the text of your message it works fine, well at least on Safari, Ipad, Iphone.
I find punctuation is only very basic with apostrophes and other thing like inverted commas dont work either at times.
I think I described the board in another post as Jurassic with inverted commas not working :)

This forum's software is one of the worst, if not the worst, that I've experienced in the past 25 years. I am constantly fighting with it to present my text in the way that I want.

I don't disagree.
And we won't even mention the naughty word checker which only parses letter streams eg. the bird ****atoo - coc-katoo.

But , at the end of each post, you do not get a google ad, or a begging letter, and not very often do you get a post deleted or censored or indeed closed. You also get some great entertainment and often sound advice.
So, Thanks Cindy, maybe you may be able to give a brief explanation of running costs and if you are considering any upgrades? and if any of the computer experts here may be able to help with same?

The software is provided by a third party (Sparklit) to all forums which use activeboard.com. It is not specific to thegreynomads.activeboard.com.
Some forums don't allow clickable links, maybe non clickable links is by design. Only the Webmaster knows.

Years ago I contacted the author(s) of Sparklit and asked that URLs be automatically "linkified". This feature was promptly added to the "Quick Reply" box but not the "Advanced Editor".

On my android phone I generally use Kiwi Browser which stops a lot of ads & popups. Sometimes filling in forms it has a few isdues so I just use the standard browser if necessary.

During the last week or so, I have had a Microsoft Windows 10 update.
It kept telling me that it did not recognise a USB device, I then had 2 USB optical mice, (with the light working), playing up
Now they work/now they dont, scenario, so I had to bin them, as Win 10 could not find better drivers
Perhaps some of the forum problems, could have stemmed from the Microsoft end
