Please note that I am in no way an expert on Captivas,or even transmission coolers, but a cursory Google search suggests that you definitely do need a transmission cooler. All I did was Google "Does a V6 Captiva need a transmission cooler" and lots of good advice appeared, particularly from an owner of that vehicle who was posting on another forum. For around $500,it surely is a "No brainer?".Good luck.

Monitor the actual temperature of your transmission fluid in operation, then you will know whether adding a cooler is a complete waste of money or a life saver. From what I have read, if it stays well under 100 deg. C you are fine but if it goes up around 115 to 120 you definitely have a problem. Don't rely on that though, You should check actual temperature specs allowed with your vehicle maker.
I have a TM Santa Fe and monitor the temp using Vgate ICar Pro Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter OBD2 Code Reader Scanner (costs about $35 - $40) and a phone app called Car Scanner ELM OBD2 on the Google Play Store. Works a treat together.

Remember your new car warranty won't be valid if something goes wrong with an aftermarket cooler system.

Only if theres fault in cooler which is extremely rare ! Would be more leaking hoses etc . In 40 years with towing horse floats, car trailer, caravan etc in sedans with coolers fitted . I have never had problems!

Same as you Guru, have never had an issue with aftermarket oil coolers, don't think the Holden dealer even knew it was there on the Colorado, and it's done over 200,000 Km now.
