I have just serviced my jack to the letter of the law. It jacks up perfectly, and lowers ok with van pushing it down, however if I just want to push the shaft down by hand it is really stiff, almost impossible. Anyone any clues? Thanks.

Shaft not slightly curved? My old unit I use at home has a curve caused by driver error and that has made it similar to yours.

Thanks Ian, yeah, on closer inspection I think that may be part the problem. It was suggested to try some dry lube, which doesn`t seem silly.
Cheers.

Yeah, mine's the same - slightly bent leg caused by the van shifting while unhitching on a slope.

Our trailer mate gets a bit hard to close from open position, I have found spraying with WD makes it easy.
The other trick is I found is loosen the valve a couple of turns extra.
I think.our one is bent also by the previous owner.
