I have been studying the "Ëngineering" of the unique ablutions hut. I note the "Southern Cross" branding on front of door (a great Australian company). I assume the flat gal sheets were originally the envelope (tin-box) sheets that the corrugated gal sheets were in when originally delivered, I used to utilise these sheets for making useful metal things myself (still have a toolbox in the shed) - waste not, want not. As it was about 24# SWG it was considered rubbish by most, it was greedily accepted by this young teenager for many projects including several tin canoes.

Back to the original post: I assume the plastic tank to be a cooling tank for bore water - a lot of weight for a flimsy structure - hot water would be direct from capped bore. Solar panel on roof would supply power (stored in battery) for 12v pump.

Alan, if you have any further photos of the structure or plumbing arrangement, I would like to see them posted. If you can recollect any other pertinent information regarding it, I imagine others would also be interested.

The square shaped pan is indicative of a long drop - Is that the case?

We haven't spent too much time around Old Beltana and Leigh Creek but merely passed though and camped overnight a couple of times with LRPBS - When this Lockdown is over we do intend on spending some quality time in SA, so I will be certain to investigate further.

maybe 3.5 tonnes of water in that tank, sitting on 50 x 25 rhs and old corrugated walls , I think a sponge bath sounds better
