We have purchased a new caravan but it is the demo model so we have to take it as it comes. It currently has a Dometic Cassette toilet and we are wanting to install a Natures Head Compost toilet. Has anyone done this and how easy is it to do?

I think Peter is keen on these so, no doubt, he'll have lots of advice for you.
Interesting review Possum: I was unconvinced. The review emphasised water saving; my cassette loo uses very little water (I don't wish to fill the holding tank quickly) and generally that's creek water taken from a 2L jug I keep beside the loo.
Loo paper goes into a plastic bag and is burnt every few days and I generally pee in the bush. I normally empty the holding tank about once a week but it will, just, go to two weeks if necessary - this is all for a single male.
There *may* be advantages for families? But at $1300 I'll not be buying one.

I will be installing a composting loo in our new build.
Apart from the water issue, the attraction for us is the extended emptying periods and the increased options for disposal.
I will be plumbing the urine to a larger, separate tank, under the floor to enable extended emptying periods for that too.
Cheers,
Peter

Thanks Peter for your response. Your reasons for wanting a compost toilet are the same as ours. I was hoping someone may have removed a cassette toilet and replaced it with a Natures Head compost toilet and be able to give me some idea of what is involved. I believe there will be a hole or two that will have to be covered and some electrical work involved.

Thanks Guru for you welcoming message and for the link you provided. We are new to caravanning so we will give the cassette toilet ago seen as it is already installed but I do think the Compost toilet is the way to go.

Welcome to GN's Broomee.
I can't help you with your Toilet changeover unfortunately - But do you believe there is enough of gain in convenience to justify the cost www.caravancampingsales.com.au/editorial/details/tested-natures-head-compost-toilet-50620/
