I'm brand new to the Forum, an Aussified Kiwi who would have preferred to buy a decent sized Yatch but pragmatically know that would no longer be the sensible move due to age and the need for a crew.
I'm eyeing either a Motorhome or a fifth wheel setup and keen on hearing other's points of view on this. I'd also welcome feedback on mobile networks and computer links as I intend to do 'the big lap' and as much in-between. I'm also keen on hearing of the best State for registration (and presumably my driving licence) in. (I've got most road classes covered, if that makes a difference. I'm also 80, likely got at least 15 years left).
Be great to hear some opinions.

Firstly, you need to change your forum name.
Something like Just do it would be more appropriate.
You Sir, could not be described as languid given your intent. Im impressed.
Cant really offer any advice either way. I have bike tent camped, camper trailer camped, caravanned and now motor homing.
Motor homing is not as flexible as having a vehicle but I do have en e-bike and rack on the back. Good planning means its hardly been used.
Whatever you decide, good on you

Get a 4WD motorhome with lots of solar and water capacity and go places that the crowds can't go to. It is a different country from that which the "mob" fight over. We stopped here an hour ago. We will stay the night. Have not seen another vehicle all day.
Sometimes its good to be around other people.
Particularly if you have a medical or other emergency.
Especially if youre 80 years old.

The people YOU choose, not the rabble that arrives.
I am within one year of the same age as the OP. With modern communications and a PLB, help is rarely more than an hour or 2 away.
I am making these posts via Starlink.
I won't be sitting around near a hospital waiting for something to go wrong for the rest of my life. I have much better things to do, like see more of this great country that most of you will never see.
Cheers,
Peter

Peter,
Cannot argue with that! I figure that once I'm dead I probably won't be worrying much about it anyway.

Ah well, put it down to irony.
