Does anyone out there have any comments about Jayco vans? We've had an enquiry from a couple who are interested in purchasing a new Jayco Sterling and would like to get some feedback about the model before they make their decision.
G'day ... I can't provide feedback specific to the Sterling series, but I have had a 21'6" Westport from new in 1999. We have travelled more than 120,000 bitumen Km with it. We have had no problems except a few minor warranty issues that were rectified promptly.
The rig tows perfectly. We are on the original wheel bearings (self serviced every 10,000Km) & second set of tyres. They were changed due to age at 80,000km with about 20,00km of tread left.
I certainly would consider another Jayco ... but ours is still so good that we can't justify the expense ..
ps. I believe that the resale price is only a few thousands less than our original purchase price!
I am also looking at a jayco heritage or stirling, as I thought that they had a reputation for quality, however I heard recently from a traveler that they are the topic of conversation in parks, and for entirely the wrong reason??? any comments Rod.
I have heard stories about the Jayco vans made with the foam sandwich construction cracking - and costing a fortune to repair minor damage. Jayco has more retailers and seems to make a reasonable quality van. I had a couple and had no problems with them but the question is the same as the one about the length of a piece of string. Some are going to be bewdies others are going to be lemons and that applies across the spectrum of van manufacturers. It's more a choice of "Does this van give me all that I want" rather than "are Jayco Vans any good" If you buy new you have a warranty, if you buy second hand negotiate a 3 months Parts & Labour warranty with the dealer, if he says no then go elsewhere as the van you may think may just have problems. Buying a Van to order is more risky than buying a van in stock for obvious reasons
