setting up a motorhome

Well we have just put in our order for a new Jayco Conquest motorhome to be delivered late November. We have sold the SS Commodore (my husband's pride and joy) to begin our dream. Our plan is to start getting used to the motorhome life by doing small trips around Tassie before setting off for a longer trip (three months) to the mainland in 2009. Who knows what after that!!! Can someone help by making some suggestions on what to start with when setting up the motorhome.
Cheers

Hi Ethel,

Hope you have a great time in your motorhome. We have had ours just over 12 months.

Things that you might need depends on what you are going to do 'free camp or caravan parks".

We stay in caravan parks and found that you have to be very selective with the one's that you choose e.g; close by transport (buses etc), close to shops, beaches, boat ramps etc. We got around those problems by getting bikes (in my case electric....bit lazy). Couple of things that you will require, white water hose (it is a special hose for the use with motorhomes and caravans) anti slide matting to go in your cuboards and draws (stops thing moving around), toilet chemicals, anti flap straps for the awning, ground sheet (for under the annex) and just about everything else that goes to make things comfortable when away from home.

Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan,
We had thought about the non slip matting but didn't know about the white water hose. As you can tell we are complete novices in the caravanning/motorhome area and any tips are greatly appreciated.  I know the disadvantage of a motorhome is that you have to take your 'home' with you where ever you go but that is something we will have to get used to. It is quite exciting planning and organising and we cant wait to get on the road.
Cheers
