Hi everyone, We've been in contact with a couple who have recently purchased a van park and are in the process of renovating it and making it appealing to grey nomads. They have a pool but are keen to get some feedback regarding what other facilities/activities that grey nomads would like to see at a van park. For example, they are thinking about installing a chipping green for golfers or a bocce rink. Anyone have any thoughts?
I remember many years ago staying at a van park near Wedderburn,we were fossiking for the elusive nugget. At dusk we decided to build a campfire to sit around and chat ( few tinnies and wine)we were 3 couples. As the night wore on and the campfire was getting low the boys would go foraging for more wood.Returning to the campfire each time a few people would drag up a chair and join us,by the end of the night there were 23 people and we all had a fabulous night ( better than the fossiking and an old timer showed me a nugget he kept under his pillow 10oz not bad eh). So back to the point, I would like to see a roundle somewhere in a park (far enough away so the earlybirds are not disturbed) with seats, fireplace ,fuel,oh and free grog too if its not too much trouble.
The fire pit is a great asset as you can organise cook out using the camp ovens ect always draws enthusiasm, I know of a few parks and camp grounds that have this feature, when we were travelling up the centre, we would have a camp fire each night and you would be surprised at the number of people that joined us each evening, cooking scones in the camp oven for all to share, another game is called disc bowls which is interesting and open to beginners i thourally enjoy it now from some one that didnt really want to participate. A happy hour gathering is always a good way for people to break the ice so to speak.
