Does anyone have experience (good or bad) with LED lighting as could be used in a caravan? They are very efficient, but somehow I have a feeling that they may lack sufficient output.
G'day, I have found LED Lighting to be quite good and economical if you only want ambient light, something to prevent banging into table or such at night.
As for reading in my opinion not much good at all. Hope this helps. Regards. John

We use one for a night light in the toilet that has 2 LEDs (vehicle clearance light, so it is waterproof). Have another the same 200mm above floor level near the steps up to the bed. It is enough at night.
Thanks Peter n Margaret. I'm after info on the types of LED lighting as are featured at and I don't want to fork out hard cash if they are not good enough for a reading light. Regards, Laurie Davis
Laurie, I'm not a big fan of LEDs when you need lumins (for reading), but they are getting better & better (and cheaper). Go somewhere like Jaycar Electronics to have a look. They have a good range of multiple LED lights at reasonable cost.
G'day Losso, Sorry for the delay in replying I have been tied up with video to DVD conversions and have not accessed the net for a while.
I have not used the 36 led's personally but have been in a mates van when he had Led's and found them very poor for reading, he has since tossed them out and gone to fluro lights.
Regards. John

Losso, even with fluros there are difficult choices. We used to have sLosso, even with fluros there are difficult choices. We used to have some cheap (<$30) twin 12V fluros. We now have top quality European, high eficiency singles. They cost about $120, use less than half the power and give much more, whiter light. Also, the cheapies blew globes constantly. Never lost a globe since we changed.
Cheers, Peter

With LED lighting It's too bright I can read I have use multi strip led that have 14 super LED's per strip 2 strips over the table on the wall and i can sea every pea on the plate very well.
As far as power consumption it's negilible running 6 strips in the van is great
