So all you Grey Nomads out there with Dogs. Do they need grooming of not. I need to know. I need to know wether it would ne worthwhile towing my trailer which is fully equiped to groom, bath or clip your dog or not. We intend to travel with or without the dog grooming trailer. I look forward to your coments. Cheers Carole
I guess it might depend on what sort of dog you have. Although we don't have a dog ourselves, we travelled for several months with a couple who brought their jack russell/fox terrier with them and they didn't have any special equipment for grooming. Although they couldn't bear to leave the dog at home, they are hoping to find a sympathetic dog sitter for their next trip as they had to miss out on all the National Parks.
Hi Carole, This is my first post so i hope it is OK. In June we travelled from Central Coast NSW to Darwin return (total of 13,500kms) with my 37kilo blue cattle and my 18 kilo border collie x and our friends took their German Shephard. We just bathed the dogs ourselves, though you would have come in handy when just outside Mt Isa we stopped at a rest stop and the big blue found a pile of human smelly stuff to roll in.
Though having said that, the people that travelled with us and took their shephard and used a dog wash at Darwin that was next to a car wash. A few places in the top end have a dog wash on the same site as the car wash so people can do both at the one place.
Thankyou Janine I found your comments very helpful. We still haven.t decided wether or not to tow our grooming trailer with us or just go solo. Cheers Carole
An interesting and novel idea! most "rural" K9's would I imagine simply either go without much grooming maybe a brush or a swim in a dam or river and most would be "robust" breeds that are designed to go without needing much grooming.... My dog <<<< to the left however does need grooming as she needs to have her coat clean and "fragrant" as she does duty at an old persons home ( thats where Grey Nomads go when they loose their licence)
She is too big to dunk in a laundry trough and I for one would appreciate a proffesional wash etc when we are on the road so I think you could be on a winner...
