Travelling in an AVAN cruiser 5

I'm a first time user to this forum and I am anticipating a lot pf good common sense from all you grey nomads out there. I'm hoping my query is not to basic, but here goes!

The wife and I are about 10 months away from STKI (spending the kids inheritence). We have a Jayco 16 foot Classique 92 model (Island bed cafe dinete side kitchen) and tow this with an EL ford sedan. Given teh fuel price hike, I'm thinking of changing to an AVAN cruiser 5 (single bed layout). Is there anyone out there who has done extended time on the road in this setup! The wholeidea is we want to travel light due to money restrictions, but need some level of comfort more than canvas would provide. My alternative thinking is to look for a 12 foot Royal Flair rear door. COuld any one offer any advice? Am I off the track? we would anticipate travelling for at least 3-4 months each trip., ( we need to keep the home base so we can move into some oldie accommodation once we can't hook up the rig any more. I'm hoping there are others out there who have faced the same problem re money as we are. Any replies will be very welcome.

Thanks and keep trucking!

common sense from us lot, who's he trying to kid, anyway a friend of mine had a 12 footer rear entry job, little nipper or something like that, he got pretty sick of it and went to a similar setup that you have now, he reckoned the extra he spent on fuel was justified in the luxury (relative) on arrival. he figured sitting on 80 kms an hour he churned out close to 13 ltrs per 100 kms on a good day with no wind, so those were the days he travelled, the avans that I have seen look ok but are still a bit crowded but those that have them swear by them, we are all squeezing the extra mile from every quid but you wont be travelling everyday so just take your time and with the money you save by choosing the right days, buy an ice cream
