Hi Nomads. The V8s race again this weekend at Bathurst. I watch this race every year on TV unfortunately my rig will not be finished in time, but I WILL BE THERE NEXT YEAR and I can't bloody wait and it will be my first time at the mount. Are any Gray Nomads going this year? Cheers Frank.
never been but a few of my mates have and they reckon its a hoot,

Go HOLDEN My eldest son and a few others booked a site in the mobile area, then they chased up campervans. Once they new they were heading to BATHURST they wanted $10000 deposit on unit, guess who is watching on tv .
Basil "HOONING AROUND THE CIRCUIT" why dont they televise that, what speed did you achieve down conrod bas, 100kph you daredevil you, I grabbed 160kph in a vc valliant still winding up until I seen a copper pinching someone a bit further down, he wagged his finger at me as I flew past, different times, they would shoot me now, did you have the gin palace on board, I guess we were all Brockies at one stage or another, "call me king of the mountain"

Question #1.....What is the diffrence between a HOLDEN V8 and a FORD V8? Answer: Some sheet metal and the paint......???? ps....Little bird told me that Toyota might not be far away.....
Question #2.....What mobile 'phone network does the Vodaphone Team use? Answer: Telstra NextG because the Vodaphone network does not have the coverage.
yep quite right thats why I rarely watch bathurst now, they both use chevy engines and saginaw gearboxes and the same diffs, basically the body shape is all that tells them apart

The difference is the driver, and that what racing SHOULD be about. Love Bathurst, used to race myself - speedway and then Karts. The skill level these people have, you need to have raced to appreciate.
The problem is, most of us know how to drive, by being taught by our perents. Question is, who taught them, and was it the best way to drive. AND, those people at Bathurst, make it look easy.
Part of the problem of GNing, is we have different skills for driving, taught from whatever, feel confident with our abilities and get into trouble - ie swaying van.
I, after years of racing, undertook a driver skills course, by default (long story). What I learnt is that there are many, that should not have a licence, and the reaction time needed on open roads.
Watch Bathurst, and at all times, note speed involved, and watch how long it takes to come to an unhealthy stop, but remember, these people have EVERY safety device on their side - not so in real life
