Bathurst

Hi Nomads.
The V8s race again this weekend at Bathurst. I watch this race every year on TV unfortunately my rig will not be finished in time, but I WILL BE THERE NEXT YEAR and I can't bloody wait and it will be my first time at the mount.
Are any Gray Nomads going this year?
Cheers Frank.

I lived at Orange for a while, we used to get sick and tired of the "Race Crowd Yobbos" LOL. Fun to hoon round the circuit off season though....

yep quite right thats why I rarely watch bathurst now, they both use chevy engines and saginaw gearboxes and the same diffs, basically the body shape is all that tells them apart

No Dave, "all the same except the metal exterior"

The difference is the driver, and that what racing SHOULD be about. Love Bathurst, used to race myself - speedway and then Karts. The skill level these people have, you need to have raced to appreciate.

The problem is, most of us know how to drive, by being taught by our perents. Question is, who taught them, and was it the best way to drive. AND, those people at Bathurst, make it look easy.

Part of the problem of GNing, is we have different skills for driving, taught from whatever, feel confident with our abilities and get into trouble - ie swaying van.

I, after years of racing, undertook a driver skills course, by default (long story). What I learnt is that there are many, that should not have a licence, and the reaction time needed on open roads.

Watch Bathurst, and at all times, note speed involved, and watch how long it takes to come to an unhealthy stop, but remember, these people have EVERY safety device on their side - not so in real life
