Just an update on the van conversion. Got the roof rack on that will be housing the solar panel, also got the floor in; used 12mm ply and 150kgs of wood filler LOL only joking.
Tomorrow I pick up my fridge thats a Waeco CR-80, then I will be abile to start building the unit frames around the fridge. Oh and on Monday I have a guy coming over to tint the windows so things are now starting to happen at last.
I tell you what it takes is a lot of planning and hard work but it's good fun.
Next week I'll put some photes up on my web for you to have good sticky.
ahhhh!!! progress, good on you frank great memories getting built along the way, look forward to the photos, when you build the cabinet carcases have you thought about how to "fix" the corners of your carcase, when we built ours we wore a biscuit joiner out completely, it just had so many uses and it was so easy to construct perfectly square carcases as well as door panels, so fast so simple, we had a makita but I see you can buy the gmc ones now with a 2 year warranty, how did you keep it down to only 150 kilos of filler??? HAH!! HAH!! HAH!!

Hi Frank hope all is going well with your conversion. I converted a LWB Ford Transit a few years ago and it came out pretty good. I used 12mm veneered board for all the furniture, a bit on the heavy side but it came up good. Behind the drivers seat I put a small wardrobe with a porta potti at the bottom. The beds were across the back which I later changed to one across the back and one along the side. The van was lined with 3mm board behind which was some pink batts I had knocking about. I put in the 240v cable and an electrician wired up the plugs etc. and then gave me a certificate to say all was in order. For cooking I only had a portable gas cooker ($18 touch) inside as the regulations mean that you ahve to have a gas fitter to do the work and a sealed box for the cylinder. When I had finished I made an appointment with Vic Roads at a country office to get the rego changed to motorcaravan and they did not even come out to inspect the van...probably because it was raining.I found that all the info you need can be downloaded from either Vic Roads or the CMCA Good luck with your project Keith
