anyone looking at purchasing a new small car should look very closley at the new barinas I have one looks great but mechanical problems ?? I now regret the purchase
gday and welcome to the forum, the barinas are a good little car, my sister has one in adelaide and apert from falling asleep on the way down here once and gently nudging the car in front of her she has had no problems with it, I am surprised you have.
did you see top gear the other night, they had a barina in there, apparently they come standard with airbags but not abs, one has to pay as an optional extra for abs brakes.
but anyway I hope you get the troubles sorted with the little feller, they would only be teething problems wouldnt they???

Hi and Welcome! I owned one for 10 years (from new) and loved it. Not one problem and it was one of the peppyist little cars I have driven! Hope the probs are soon sorted. Just a bit of bad luck I suspect. Cheers!
Just great, you get a $2000.00 CD / Radio as standard but the safety features fitted to most new cars as a standard now become optional why not opt out of brakes altogether and install a drag chute to slow the vehicle up and opt for a 6 disc CD stacker with quad speakers capable of producing noise in excess of 180 db instead . Never mind lets ask the tax payers to throw more billions into road safety.

well all i can say is that my new tk barina should be sent to the scrap heap less than 3000km and needs a new rear axle assembly still in workshop has a odd noise from motor that holden cannot diagnose but hey they are working on a solution for it they dont know what it is or how to solve the problem but told me just keep driving it and when we have a fix we will notify you ???mm i asked if you dont know what it is or how to fix then how do you know it wont cause further damage increase in revs when changing gears or depressing clutch oh the said thats normal with these cars ??must say thats hard to beleive replaced throttle control sensor switch improved it but now its going again rear alignment caused damage to tyres but will not replace and fuel enconomy if 11li per 100km is economical then i be blowed
like your humour its bad luck i can ill afford as this bad luck is costing me heaps eg wear on tyres and how can 11litres per 100km be economical not bad luck at all its poor workmanship and product control
mate it sounds like you got a sensor problem and/or perhaps a sender unit problem or possibly a computer management error either way a good diagnostic technician should be able to source the trouble, they will be very loathe to change the computer management system over as it costs around the $2500 upwards mark, 11 ltrs per 100km's is disgracefull out of those little blokes and certainly not acceptable, it should be down as low as 6/100,
as far as the rear axle twist up is concerned, talk to the manager of the holden dealership, tell him/her the problem you are having, ask them (quietly and calmly) to do one of two things, fix immediately all faults including the worn tyres, or replace the vehicle with a brand new one, the warranty is clear cut on the modern vehicle. be sure to state (in a quiet reasonable calm manner) that if it is not done in a reasonable time then you are willing to go to consumer affairs the next option open to you is to seek out consumer affairs,
this behaviour is unacceptable in this day and age and should not be tolerated in any circumstances.
please, at ALL times remain calm and try to stay central and focussed, talk first to resolve ALL problems, and IF and ONLY if that fails contact consumer affairs and be sure to bring ALL relevent documentation, including photographs of the rear tyres worn out due to inaction of dealership. try to note down any conversation you may have had with the shop management, including insults (it does get to that) you will see that I have over emphasised calmness and quiet and in control, please this is most important as your behaviour can be used against you if it goes to court.
I am not suggesting that you have an anger problem and I am not suggesting that you have gone off the rails, all I am saying is be calm and in control, it will work against you if you are not. and it will work against them if they do their chewy. I would be as angry as all hell if I was you but it is most important that you stay in control.
I stated the barina is a good little car, I stand by that, you unfortunately have struck a problem that is possibly easily fixed, WHEN FOUND. if you need a lawyer contact www.legalaid.qld.gov.au this is a no cost system for just this situation, I wish you the best of luck and please let the forum know how you got on, I am sure it will be fine
