Emergency contact and medical information

www.triple0card.com.au
Hi all

A friend of mine just told me about this site, it looks like a good idea, and so I thought I would share it here. Both she and her husband have just signed up for this.  Apparently when you register with them they record as many emergency contacts as you want, they also record any medical information that you want.  Then if anything happens to you and you are taken to hospital unconscious or similar the hospital will call Triple 0 Card and they will pass on any medical information, and then they will call your next of kin and let them know where you are.  Unfortunately they don't do pensioner discounts but it only costs $25 a year.  We're going interstate a lot so this will be very helpful.

Thanks Dave. Sounds like a good idea. I'll check it out.

Have you heard of ICE? This is a way of putting a "contact in emergency" phone number in your mobile phone. Say you have your daughter or son listed in your mobile phone contacts. In front of their name, type the word ICE which stands for In Case of Emergency. Police and Ambulance workers are now using this to contact relatives if you're in an emargency, an accident or illness. They can check your mobile phone and find the right person to call simply by looking for  ICE.

Yeah, I have heard about ICE but it has a lot of flaws, and the police I have spoken to have said this also.  There can be alot of things that go wrong with phones, flat batteries -  which always happens to me!!, pin locks, damaged (which is a real possibility if you are in an accident) , and you could get an old one like me that has no idea how to find stuff on it. And not only that it means that the police or ambulance have to try to reach your contacts, if they don't get them first go, they simply don't have the time to keep on trying it over and over.  i think they would retry a few times, but that could be hours apart.  The  thing I like about this product is that the police ambulance or hospital only have to make one call then they do the rest. They also sell a heap of other products all with your unique number on it. http://triple0card.com.au/index.php . Me I'm sold, this is great!!
