Has anyone used the Coleman twin burner folding cooking ring. Its the model that folds in half, and runs on a butane disposable cartridge. What are they like and how long does the cartridge last. Any comments would be appreciated before I buy. Keith
hey keith, I have one of those cheap Kmart ones that take the butane cartridge, I chuck it in squeeky and thought we may just use it to keep things warm, our main cooker is a two burner lpg, one in squeeky and one in the camper
if you are thinking of just having the butane one as your main cooker then I wouldnt, they are pretty viscious on gas
I would look at maybe an lpg single burner that screws into the cylinder or a decent setup complete with folding table, I wouldnt bother with the butane ones, I think in the 5 years that we have had our single one we have used it twice, it really is just a toy. a bbq is also a good way to go, does everything that a cooker does

Here we go again ... Isn't it great that we all have different perspectives on most subjects!!
When we were ready to set off on our first touring expedition in 2000 we had a coleman/primus 2 burner thingo, but our daughter gave us a lightweight cooker that ran off those butane cartridges.
We left the primus behind .. still in the shed somewhere & have used the lightweight one ever since. It is housed in an old Hilti gun case along with everything for a BBQ & rides in the back of the 4WD. I even use it at home sitting on top of my 5 burner RR BBQ for the simple summer BBQ evening with SWMBObeyed.
I suppose my comments must be qualified by the rider that it is not our primary cooking medium when on the road. We have the usual gas & electric + microwave stuff in the van & don't bush camp.
For what we use it for, we find it extremely economical & functional. Often pull up at a good luncheon spot (when touring without the van) & cook up something out of the Engel in a few minutes.
ps. It is great at home for cooking up my xtra hot chillie jam .. gets up to temperature quickly & doesn't stink up the kitchen.
pps. Funny thing is that my Daughter .. new to caravanning, convinced SWMBObeyed to buy her a new beaut Webber Q for XMAS ... & we soldier on with the $20 lightweight butane thingo!!
yep, I will agree with all of that, as far as convenience is concerned it would be fantastic, and I admit to using mine at home occasionally to boil the billy and as an extra cooker before we bought the larger 5 burner bbq with the rottiserie and side burner, but then more people come so I'm not sure if we gained anything, I have not come across the coleman two burner so I dont know if it is better or worse but being coleman it should be better than my cheap kmart special, gas bottles are cheap though but dont buy them from supa cheap because they are only half full or so my mate reckons
